3M™ Cold Shrink Quick Insulator QI 18/57-325 provides a quick solution for a wide range of cable sizes. It combines the environmental seal of mastic with the reliability of 3M™s field-proven cold shrink technology. Each cold shrink tube has factory-installed mastic rings in each to provide added protection and range taking capability. Fits cable size range of 250 kcmil - 1250 kcmil. QI series insulators are easily installed by hand with no tools. They seal tightly with excellent wet electrical properties and are tested to requirements of ANSI C119.1. They are recommended for such applications as secondary inline splices, especially in tight spaces or on cable racks, with imperfect or scarred cable jackets, and for splices in which the cable can only be removed from one side. Also recommended for dig-in and sheath repair splices, street lighting, sealing connections or switchgear, transition connectors and set-screw or oversized connectors, and for retrofitting and repairing cable leads for secondary transformers.

3M™ Cold Shrink End Caps are close-ended, tubular rubber sleeves that are factory expanded and loaded onto a removable core. When positioned over the end of a cable, or other cylindrical object the core is removed to provide a reliable environmental seal. Four different end caps are available to accommodate a wide range of sizes.

These kits are designed to be used with copper compression lugs. After being crimped onto the cables, the lugs are bolted together, then insulated and sealed with the 3M™ Motor Lead Splicing Kits. Each kit contains all the necessary materials (except lugs) needed to make three splices. The lugs must be purchased separately. 3M™ Scotchlock Copper Compression Lugs 30000 Series, or other UL listed copper lugs, can be used.

Fits cable size range of 8 AWG to 1/0 AWG for aluminum connections and 8 AWG to 2/0 AWG for copper connections. QI series insulators are easily installed by hand with no tools. They seal tightly with excellent wet electrical properties and are tested to requirements of ANSI C119.1. They are recommended for such applications as secondary inline splices, especially in tight spaces or on cable racks, with imperfect or scarred cable jackets, and for splices in which the core can only be removed from one side. These kits are applicable for indoor and outdoor installations, including direct burial, aerial and submersible applications. The 5730 series accommodates a full range of cable sizes from 14 AWG-750 kcmil. The overall jacket diameter ranges from 0.62 to 4.0 (16 to 102 mm). For use with 3/C or 4/C Armor Power Cable CSA Certified for 600V or less.
